Meet Benjamin Herbstman
I am a psychiatrist, psychoanalyst, and organizational advisor whose work bridges clinical insight with executive leadership.
I completed my residency in psychiatry before pursuing psychoanalytic training, developing deep expertise in individual and group dynamics, systems thinking, and the psychology of change. For over a decade, I've worked clinically with individuals, couples, families, and groups—helping them understand the underlying emotional and relational patterns that shape behavior and performance.
The Herbstman Advising practice serves family businesses, CEOs, entrepreneurs, and boards. My work in this advisory role focuses on leadership development, succession processes, organizational transitions, conflict resolution, and authority challenges—particularly in complex or high-pressure environments.
What distinguishes this approach is the depth of psychological insight I bring to organizational life. Leadership challenges are rarely purely strategic. Identity, anxiety, ambition, loyalty, rivalry, trust, and power all shape how organizations function. By helping leaders think more clearly about these forces, I support durable, thoughtful change.
My advisory style is steady and relational with a goal of creating environments where honest and open reflection is possible.
